Knowledge Sharing in the Primary Care

This study concerns knowledge sharing within knowledge-intensive hierarchical organizations. More specifically, this encompasses knowledge sharing between physicians, nurses, assistant nurses, almoners, therapists, physiotherapists, and laboratory personnel in the primary care. The study will be conducted at a general clinic in Sweden. The survey will investigate and describe how, and what type of knowledge is processed and exchanged around home residential medical patients (a very large group of patients, usually of high age) between the different categories of personnel. In-depth and semi-structured interviews will be performed with the respondents. The purpose is to investigate the systems through which people achieve their knowing and propose alternative ways of achieving their knowledge. The expected contribution of the survey is principally: (1) A categorization and representation of different types of knowledge at the general clinic, (2) A description of different knowledge processes at the general clinic, and (3) Guidelines for different ways of sharing knowledge in knowledge-intensive hierarchical organizations.
